Whether you are a budding writer taking your first steps or an established author, the the Ulverston Writers groups can help you, providing advice, support, or simply a platform to discuss ideas. Try one of our meetings and find out for yourself.
Ulverston Writers is a long established writing group who meet fortnightly on Wednesday mornings. Meetings are open to anyone at whatever their stage of writing. Members include published novelists, short story writers, script writers, children’s writers and poets.
We are usually a dozen writers each session who bring copies of work in progress with the aim of improving it for publication. We strive to create a climate of creativity, problem solving and learning; improve writing skills in workshops run by professional writers; work towards opportunities to perform or publish to a wider audience. We take every opportunity to perform short pieces of prose and poetry and sketches to organised groups throughout Cumbria, and regularly read our short stories in the monthly short-story slot at Ulverston Library.
We have published three anthologies, Telling Tales, Winter Tales and Weekend at the Midland Hotel, 1934.
