Dip Into A Story

Wednesday 16 July, Ulverston Library, 7.30 pm

Local novelists read extracts from their work.

Story Time For Grown Ups, the monthly short story readings from local writers, has proved a huge success at Ulverston library on Thursday mornings.  Now Word Market would like to invite you to a free evening event to hear short extracts from novels in progress.

Cumbria is home to a number of novelists; some published, some yet to be published.  Come along and dip into a story.  Find out how these novels are written, where the characters and stories come from and just who is scribbling away in their spare time.

Notice of AGM

The Word Market AGM will be held on Wednesday 23rd July at 7.30 pm at Eller Riggs House, Eller Riggs Brow, Ulverston.  Directions can be found here.

Items for the agenda to include Chairman's Report, Treasurer’s Report and Election of committee.  Other items for the agenda will be welcomed.

Please email them to:  janice@word-market.co.uk or post them to: AGM, Word Market, PO Box 150, Barrow-in-Furness, LA14 3WF by Friday 18th July.

It has been another busy and eventful year for Word Market and we very much welcome your support.

Elvis is in the Building

A writing competition from the people who brought you Pub Scripts

A reminder that there’s still time to submit a pub script featuring Elvis Presley before the 31 July deadline.

Everyone has a story... if yours is for two actors, maximum 10 minutes long and something to do with Elvis, we want to read it!

For guidelines and an entry form, email John Hall, Project Co-Ordinator on  pubscripts2008@aol.com or download them here.

LIVE LITERATURE FRINGE !!!!!

Saturday 13 September in Sedbergh, England's Book Town

What is a Fringe event?  Usually seen as the overspill from a Festival the main thing about a Fringe event is that the performers are SELF-SELECTING.  No-one invites you, you just come along.

This year the Book Town wants to give everyone a chance to try their writings out on the public – no age limits and no selection process – just a chance for anyone and everyone (from age 16) to perform their play or skit, recite, tell stories, stand-up, or simply read extracts from    THEIR MASTERPIECES!

You can choose the time of day you want, anytime between 10 am and 10 pm – you choose the size and type of venue, theatre, meeting room, street, churchyard, tent - venues to seat up to 150 audience are available.  We will supply basic lighting and sound.

Please email back immediately if you are interested cnbooktown@homecall.co.uk  Festival Organiser Carole Nelson – or phone 015396 20034 for more details
